This wheel-thrown yellow striped teapot is made and glazed by hand! After throwing all the parts on the potters wheel, the foot is carefully trimmed and spout is attached with straining holes on the inside so your tea doesn't get stuck in the spout.
Each stripe is created using hand-cut stencils that mask off the glaze design while the white part of the teapot is glazed. After using wax resist to protect the white glazed parts, I peel away the stencils, clean everything up and then dip and paint in the saffron yellow glaze!
All glazes are entirely food safe and mixed by me in my studio in Vancouver Canada. Each piece is fired to 2200 degrees F.
Please note that while my designs are fairly uniform, each one is made by hand, thus the teapot you receive may vary in form slightly from the photo. I make sure each teapot pours well and has a great fitting lid that won't slide off when you pour your tea. Teapots measure approx. 4.5-5 cups of liquid.
